WHAT ALCOHOL DOES TO OUR BODIES:
BRAIN
Alcohol interferes with the brain’s communication pathways, which in turn disrupts our coordination, mood, and our ability to think clearly. Often saying/ doing things we wouldn’t normally.
PANCREAS
When drinking Alcohol, the pancreas produces toxic substances, that could result in developing pancreatitis (inflammation and swelling of the blood vessels in the pancreas - prevents proper digestion).
LIVER
Excessive drinking damages the liver, and causes the following:
- Steatosis, or fatty liver
- Alcoholic hepatitis
- Fibrosis
- Cirrhosis
HEART
Drinking over a long period or a lot on a single occasion can damage the heart, resulting in the following:
- Cardiomyopathy – Stretching and drooping of heart muscle
- Arrhythmias – Irregular heart beat
- Stroke
- High blood pressure
CANCER
Drinking excessive alcohol can increase your risk of cancer of:
- Mouth
- Esophagus
- Throat
- Liver
- Breast

HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH ALCOHOL?
Drinking more than the following: in a single-day or weekly limits is considered “heavy” drinking:
MEN
More than 4 drinks on any day or 14 per week
WOMEN
More than 3 drinks on any day or 7 per week
